July 4th Celebration

How does one really intimate the level of pleasure he/she feels when he/she is in the presence of people who believe as he/she does?

Tonight, I had the pleasure of spending time with the Libertarians of Montgomery County.  As the Chairman of the committee, I have had the pleasure of introducing some amazing speakers, and some amazing people, but tonight, I had the pleasure of speaking with Michael Badnarik, former presidential nominee for the Libertarian Party, and as usual, he did not disappoint!

Speaking at our meeting, he brought up the Continental Congress.  Basically this is a group of delegates from the 50 states who will sit and judge the current Congress, and decide whether or not they are acting in the best interest of the nation, the Constitution, and the people of the United States.  From my perspective, I do not believe that these people, we have elected, are acting in our best interest.  I plan on challenging an incumbent Senator to make this particular statement.

Tonight, we had the largest group, from the attendees of the meeting, show up at our post meeting, meeting at the local tavern.  Michael was there, and we discussed, on a deeper level of detail, what was discussed at the meeting, and that is that we all must realize that there is something that needs to be done, and we ALL have a responsibility to see that it IS done......

Michael has done, what our founders did  in signing the Declaration of Independence.  He pledged his Live, His Fortune, and His Sacred Honor, to see that this nation is brought to a place where everyone has the liberty he/she deserves as recognized as being self evident.

July 4th, he will be speaking in Philadelphia, The Birthplace of the Constitution, and he will be demonstrating how far away from what the founders intended we happen to be.

Come out and join us!  If you believe, as I do, that we are a nation for the people, BY the people, come out and join us!!

4/20 Police say "LEGALIZE DRUGS!!"

E-mail Print PDF

Find out why on April 20th, 7:00 pm

Philadelphia Inquirer Building, West Conshohocken

Join former Maryland State Police Maj. Stanford “Neill” Franklin
of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (www.leap.cc)
for a frank discussion about the failed “war on drugs.”

“It pains me to know that there is a solution for preventing tragedy and nothing is being one because of ignorance, stubbornness, unsubstantiated fear and greed.” eill Franklin, a 32-year law enforcement veteran, retired from the Maryland State Police n 1999. During his time on the force he held the position of commander for the Education nd Training Division and the Bureau of Drug and Criminal Enforcement. Major
Franklin instituted and oversaw the very first Domestic Violence Investigative Units for he Maryland State Police. After 23 years of dedicated service to the Maryland State olice, he was recruited in 2000 by the Commissioner of the Baltimore Police Department o reconstruct and command Baltimore’s Education and Training Section.

Like so many young police officers he never questioned the law, the policy or even the rders or direction from superiors. He was a soldier who took the orders and applied them to he letter of the law. He was proud of his work, taking druggies off the street and of the hundreds of arrests he made. Hearing Baltimore Mayor Kurt Schmoke speak to this failed “war on drugs” policy caused him to give the “war on drugs” another look. Once he took the time to check the statistics, to notice the demographics, to see the disparity between aws and those in prison, to notice the homicide rate and why it was so high, he knew something was just not right.

Neill is motivated by the high number of civilian lives lost, and the many police officers who give their lives in this unnecessary war.

LEAP (www.leap.cc) is made up of over 10,000 current and former members of the law enforcement and criminal justice ommunities who are speaking out about the failures of our existing drug policies. Those policies have failed, and ontinue to fail, to effectively address the problems of drug abuse, especially the problems of juvenile drug use, the problems of addiction, and the problems of crime caused by the existence of a criminal black market in drugs.

Doors open at 7:00 pm. The presentation begins at 7:30. Beverages at a nearby pub will follow.

Candidate Workshop

E-mail Print PDF

We had a productive day with our Candidate Workshop, I am excited to be part of our organization!  More to follow on the workshop, but here was the original ad for the workshop.

Do you pay attention to government activity? Are you unhappy with the status quo? Would you like to make a difference protecting your community from the government? Would you like to see the Libertarian message on TV, newspaper and radio? Would you like to nail the incumbent in a public debate?

We are seeking Libertarian candidates and campaign volunteers for 2009 and 2010 races. You can help us win local races this year and prepare for high profile races next year. Whether your interests are local, statewide or national, we need dedicated Libertarians at all levels.

Our candidates are the heart and soul of the Libertarian Party. Libertarian campaigns are our chance to go on the offensive. You can make a difference without quitting your job or spending a fortune. It’s easier than most people think.

Are you qualified? If you have read the constitution and love freedom, then you are more qualified than virtually any old party candidate.

To explain the candidate process, the Montgomery County Libertarian Committee is hosting a free workshop on March 7th. Elected Libertarians and experienced candidates will be on hand to answer questions. All potential candidates and campaign volunteers are welcome. To register, please click here or RSVP or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or call 610-636-8039.
